Pesticide Applicator Certification and Training

Pesticide Safety Programs: NASDARF Cooperative Agreement (X8-83456201) with US EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs

NASDA Research Foundation, EPA, state lead agencies and extension educators have developed several training and testing resources for applicator certification.  The manuals can be viewed on the web or downloaded for printing. In addition, print-quality files can be requested.  If states are modifying their own training manuals, they can request use of these resources to assist their efforts.  Regarding item banks for developing or revising exams, requests can be made directly to EPA for these secure files.

The US Fish and Wildlife Service, US Environmental Protection Agency, NASDA Research Foundation, and University of Nebraska—Lincoln completed a training package as part of conservation measures prescribed by BiOps for endangered or threatened species and their habitats, in particular for pesticide applicators who use or plan to use Rozol or Kaput-D to control the Black Tailed Prairie Dog in the states where use of these products is permitted. Both the specific use restrictions for the products and related information about threatened and endangered species are presented in the training. The presentation, a sampling video and video describing use of EPA Bulletins Live! are posted at the University of Nebraska website.

The purpose of this training manual is to support state, tribe and territory pesticide applicator certification and training programs. This training manual covers the entry-level knowledge and skills required for reading, interpreting, and following soil fumigant labels and understanding the basic concepts for the effective use of soil fumigants.
