Georgia June Area Survey Training Workshop (Statesboro, Georgia) May 13-14, 2010
The Georgia NASS Field Office held a successful and productive workshop in Statesboro, Georgia on May 13-14, 2010 to prepare for the 2010 June Area Survey. There were 5 Field Supervisors and 22 Enumerators who participated in the workshop. They will be very busy since Georgia has a total of 313 new land segments in this year’s survey. This year, the Georgia team has 3 new enumerators who will be working on the June Survey for the first time.
NASDA’s NASS Program Director Charlie Ingram participated in the workshop and worked with enumerators on the practice exercises. One of the highlights of the workshop was a Retirement Celebration held the evening of May 13 to honor Inman Gerrald, who is retiring as a NASDA Supervisor after more than 40 years of service.
The NASS Georgia Field Office team of Director Doug Kleweno, Deputy Director Radley Edwards, John Meyer, NASDA Coordinator, and Jokeda Nelson, Survey Manager and Ag Statistician, did an outstanding job of coordinating the workshop activities.
The June Area survey is one of the largest annual NASS survey projects. It is designed to account for every acre of land, all agricultural activities, and land uses within segment boundaries. Data collected by NASDA enumerators on behalf of NASS include: crop acreage, grain stocks, livestock inventory (including cattle, hogs, sheep and poultry), land values, cash rents, farm numbers, and value of sales.
