Aflac Voluntary & Supplemental Health Insurance
2010 will bring a great benefit for all employees of NASDA!
We are pleased to announce that Aflac voluntary and supplemental health insurance is now available to NASDA employees.
Aflac is a voluntary benefit policy that is paid entirely by the employee and is not subsidized by NASDA. NASDA has partnered with Aflac to obtain the best possible rates specifically for NASDA employees.
An Aflac website has been created specifically for NASDA employees to learn more about this new offer and request more detailed information. You can access the website directly at: http://www.aflacclients.com/nasda/Welcome.aspx
Aflac is Different from Health Insurance
Aflac is an extra measure of financial protection. Aflac programs are designed to pay cash directly to you when you or a covered family member has treatment for an accident or illness. This cash can help you cover the out of pocket medical expenses, deductibles, co-payments—or most importantly, keep a cash flow to make home payments, pay utility bills, buy groceries or other costs of everyday living.
The benefits are predetermined and paid regardless of any other insurance you have. Aflac’s policies offer guaranteed renewability and are portable. If you change jobs or retire, you can take your Aflac policy with you, with no increase in premiums.
Aflac Offers a Range of Products/Policies for NASDA Employees
- Accident: Helps cover many of the expenses after an injury that your major medical insurance doesn’t cover.
- Cancer: Provides a cash benefit for just about every part of your treatment – from hospital stays to radiation and chemotherapy.
- Hospital: Helps individuals or families offset the high costs of an extended hospital stay.
- Critical Illness: Pays benefits for life-threatening conditions such as heart attacks or stroke.
- Dental and Life
Aflac FAQs
- What type of coverage can I get through Aflac? Accident, Cancer, Critical Illness (heart attack/stroke), Hospitalization, ICU, Dental, and Life.
- How much does it cost? Most policies cost less than an hour’s wage per week for employee coverage. Family coverage is available as well for slightly more.
- Do my rates change? Aflac maintains a great record of rate stability – meaning your rate does not increase from year-to-year or as you get older. *
- How do I pay for the policies? NASDA secured the best group payroll rates for the employees but you can pay for them with a credit card or debit card, or by drafting them out of your bank account. There are no payroll deductions.
- Is it hard to qualify for coverage? Policies only ask health questions related to the plan coverage and only regarding the covered person(s) – no other family history is considered. Most applicants will always qualify for accident and dental coverage.*
- What is the age limit? Most states allow an employee through the age of 70 to apply. Once the policy is effect, the employee may keep the coverage after the age of 70.
(*Differences may exist between states.)
