Food Safety State and Federal Standards and Regulations

The food safety publication, a project of the NASDA Research Foundation in cooperation with the National Center for Agricultural Law Research and Information (NCALRI) at the University of Arkansas, details food regulations at the federal, state, and local level. The publication is a series of resource documents (one for each state) containing information on food labeling, advertising, restaurants, grocery stores, medicated animal feed, irradiation, food sanitation, transportation, canneries, warehouses, grain elevators, infant formula, etc.
The federal section of the guide tracks the authority of federal agencies including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), USDA, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) and other federal agencies. The publication, made possible by a grant from FDA, is intended for use as an educational tool for producers, distributors, retailers, and the general public.
The guide was completed in 1999 and can be found at http://www.nasda.org/nasda/nasda/Foundation/foodsafety/index.html.
