USDA ANNOUNCES DISASTER ASSISTANCE FUNDING FOR RURAL COMMUNITIES

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced $31.6 million is now available for communities stricken by natural disasters.  Competitively awarded through the USDA Rural Development’s Community Facilities program, this funding is available for public bodies, non-profit organizations and federally recognized Indian tribes.  Altogether, 14 states will be receiving the funds, which may be used to purchase first responder and emergency vehicles, emergency generators, computers, snow plows, truck plows and other necessary equipment.  For a complete list of the states receiving funding, please visit the USDA Rural Development website(Contact: David Hickey)
