HIRING ORGANIZATION: Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP); Division of Food Safety. Located at 2811 Agriculture Drive, Madison, Wisconsin. (Dane County.)

SALARY: Salary is between $60,552 - $77,256 per year, commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits (paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance options and paid holidays). This is a nonrepresented, supervisory position. A two-year Career Executive trial period may be required upon appointment. Pay schedule/range 81-01. Pay provisions determined in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for leading the Bureau of Meat Safety and Inspection and administering its programs. For the Bureau, this position sets goals and objectives, directs program budgets, supervises management, technical and field staff, measures results and evaluates effectiveness. This position makes recommendations for development of legislation and rulemaking, and establishes policy for Bureau operations. This position works in consultation and cooperation with local, state and federal agencies to maximize program effectiveness. The position provides technical consultation and program representation to public, professional and governmental groups. This position works under the general supervision of the Administrator of the Division of Food Safety.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Extensive knowledge of personnel management and program administration; Extensive knowledge of the regulatory systems of the agribusiness industry.
