West Virginia: State Agriculture Commissioner Encourages Comments on USDA Animal Disease Traceability Rule

News Date: 09/20/2011

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is seeking comments on a proposed rule to improve the traceability of U.S. livestock during a disease outbreak. West Virginia Commissioner of Agriculture Gus R. Douglass encourages farmers to add their input.

"Traceability - in my estimation - is a must, but there are many forms it can take," he said. "This is a chance for West Virginia's livestock producers to have a say, but the comment period is ending soon." For more information, click here.
