Animal Disease Tracibility Rule

NASDA SUPPORTS PUBLICATION OF USDA APHIS’s

ANIMAL DISEASE TRACEABILITY RULE

Washington, D.C. – The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) applauds the efforts made by USDA APHIS (Animal & Plant Health Inspection Service) regarding its pending publication of an animal traceability rule. This undertaking is integral to any effective animal disease management program.

APHIS has methodically and successfully provided opportunities to understand its thinking about traceability, assuring that partners and stakeholders have had ample occasions to provide insights. This outreach should go a long way toward creating the backbone of a workable rule.

NASDA and its members appreciate the ability to review the rule, once it is published, and provide comment to assure an appropriate rule is enacted.

NASDA is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association that represents the interests of the state departments of agriculture of the 50 states and 4 US territories.
