News Date June 03, 2009

Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT) has introduced the "Promoting American Agricultural and Medical Exports to Cuba Act of 2009," S. 1089 with bipartisan support. The legislation would facilitate the export of agricultural products to Cuba by allowing timely and direct cash payments for agricultural goods. In addition, USDA would be required to promote U.S. agricultural exports to Cuba. The current travel ban on allowing U.S. citizens and legal residents to travel to Cuba would be lifted and restrictions on exports of medicines and medical devices would be eased.
