EPA APPOINTS CHIEF AGRICULTURAL COUNSELOR

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lisa Jackson announced June 1 the appointment of Larry Elworth as Chief Agricultural Counselor at the agency.

Elworth was previsouly executive director at the Center for Agricultural Partnerships (CAP), and led initiatives that solve agricultural problems by helping farmers adopt more environmentally sound and profitable farming practices. The Center has focused on increasing participation among farmers who have not previously participated in federal programs, particularly specialty crop producers. Additionally, Elworth served as special assistant for pesticide policy from 1993 to 1996 for the Office of the Secretary at USDA. He was also a liaison to Domestic Policy Council in the White House.
