ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS PETITION EPA TO REGULATE CAFOS UNDER THE CLEAN AIR ACT
News Date September 29, 2009
A coalition of environmental and animal rights groups, led by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) filed a legal petition this week to require EPA to regulate concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs) under the Clean Air Act. In July HSUS CEO Wayne Pacelle said that by September 25, HSUS would have “a fully functioning litigation department” that would do “nothing but offensive litigation for animals.” Animal Agriculture was one of the main topics of discussion at the meeting in July.
