CSREES BECOMES NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR FOOD AND AGRICULTURE

This week the USDA Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES) became the National Institute for Food and Agriculture (NIFA) as mandated by the 2008 Farm Bill. According to USDA, NIFA was established “for the purpose of ensuring the technological superiority of American agriculture.” NIFA will work to address a broad range of issues facing American agriculture, from enhancing sustainability to developing healthier foods to combat obesity in America.
