FSIS ANNOUNCES NEW SMALL PLANT HELP-DESK

This week, USDA’s Food and Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the opening of a new small plant help-desk to address questions concerning agency requirements. Catering to smaller establishments supplying meat, poultry, and egg products, FSIS will provide a knowledgeable staff specialist through a toll-free number or by e-mail. The new program is designed to support the “Know your Farmer, Know your food” initiative to reconnect the essential link between producers and consumers. The help-desk will be open from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays.
