Opportunities
One of the most important national agricultural conventions will be
held in Vermont this fall. As president of the National Association
of State Departments of Agriculture, Commissioner Leon Graves has the
honor of hosting NASDA 2001, September 21-26 at the Sheraton Hotel in
Burlington. Many of the most influential agricultural leaders, including
Secretaries, Directors and Commissioners of all 50 State Departments
of Agriculture and the four U.S. territories, along with executives
from the nation's largest agribusinesses and the USDA, will attend this
annual conference.
Members of NASDA
will be detailing their position on the 2002
Farm Bill, major legislation that significantly influences the profitability
of America's family farms. NASDA 2001 will provide an opportunity for
agricultural leaders from across the country to network and develop
specific policies on a full range of issues that affect agriculture
and the economy directly.
Sponsorships will
help to defray the expenses associated with the meeting and to showcase
Vermont's agricultural industry to these visitors from across the nation.
