The Honorable Charles Bronson

Charles H. Bronson was born on September 15, 1949, in Central
Florida into a family that has been in agriculture since the 1600s. A fifth-generation
Floridian, Bronson was a member of the track and football team in high school
and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1972 after studying agriculture
education and engineering, as well as animal and meat sciences.
A cattleman and rancher, he was elected to the Florida Senate
in 1994 and reelected four years later. While in the Senate, Bronson chaired
the Agriculture and Consumer Services Committee, and the Natural Resources
Committee.
He was appointed Florida Agriculture Commissioner by Governor
Jeb Bush on May 14, 2001. He was then elected to the statewide position in
November 2002.
He and his wife, Regina, reside with daughters, Michelle and
Melanie, in Tallahassee.
