Patty Judge was elected Iowa's first woman secretary of agriculture in November of 1998. She was an Iowa State Senator from 1995 to 1999, serving as the ranking member of the state Senate Agriculture Committee and a member of the Natural Resources and Ways and Means Committees. She is a graduate of the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing. She and her husband John own a farm in Albia, Iowa, with their three sons.
