The Honorable Fred L. Dailey

Fred L. Dailey was appointed Director of the Ohio Department of Agriculture of the Ohio Department of Agriculture by Governor George V. Voinovich in 1991. The importance of the department is evident since it provides services for Ohio's number one industry-agriculture-as well as administers many consumer protection programs for the benefit of all Ohioans. Dailey received his bachelor's degree from Indiana's Anderson University, where he majored in Political Science and History. He earned his master's degree from Ball State University in Public Administration. From 1973 to 1981, he held a high governmental agriculture post within the state of Indiana. In 1981, Dailey returned to his native state and served as Executive Vice President of the Ohio Beef Council and Executive Secretary of the Ohio Cattlemen's Association. Dailey is a military veteran having served with the 101st airborne division in Vietnam. He is a member of several organizations including the American Angus Association. He currently maintains a small herd of registered angus cattle on his Knox County farm. He and his wife, Rita, have three children: Dawn, Shawn, and Calley.
