Valoria Loveland was appointed by Governor Locke in April 2002 to serve as the Director of the Washington State Department of Agriculture starting June 1. As Director, Valoria serves on several agricultural advisory boards and committees. She previously was a Washington State Senator serving the southeast Washington farming communities of the 16th legislative district for eight years. While in the Senate, Valoria served as chairwoman of the Ways and Means Committee and co-chaired the Senate agriculture committee.
