State Organic Program: Yes State certifier: Yes Contact: Robert L. Hougaard,
Program Manager Cost Share Program: Yes There are organic programs throughout the state. Dry land cereals lead the production of organic crops. Livestock programs are begining with a need for organic feed production. There is a large potienial for the production of both organic lamb and beef. There has been an interest in organic dairy production. There are small organic vegetable and organic shoot producers which meet year around demand at organic restaurants and retail establishments. Organic produce can be found at local farmers markets during the summer season. The demand far exceeds the supply for organic production and processing in the state. The organic program is busy educating potential operators. The program has shown a constant growth since 2001.
