The NASS Great Lakes Regional Field Office held a successful Supervisory Workshop on August 6-7, 2013 in Perrysburg, Ohio.
There were 18 NASDA Field Supervisors from Michigan, Ohio and Indiana who participated in the workshop. NASDA’s NASS Program Director Charlie Ingram also attended the session. The NASS Team included: Great Lakes Regional Director Jay Johnson, Deputy Ty Kalaus, Michigan Survey Coordinator Chad Cloos, Ohio State Statistician Cheryl Turner and Survey Coordinator Brooke Morris, Indiana State Statistician Greg Matli and Survey Coordinator Jamie Price. The NASS Team also included Admin Techs Trudy Leitz and Katherine Kimball, Lynn Spisak and Linda Lawson.
The workshop agenda included interactive discussions on numerous topics including NASDA quality control, survey evaluations, supervisory roles and responsibilities, regional communications and coordination. Admin Techs Trudy Leitz and Katherine Kimball provided information about electronic timesheet procedures, administrative and personnel issues. CAPI Coordinator Linda Lawson addressed technical issues about using iPads to collect agricultural survey data. Overall, it was a great opportunity for the NASS and NASDA teams to coordinate their management approach, enhance communications, and strengthen operational support for the NASS Great Lakes regional structure.
