The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) announced today that Janell Hendren has joined NASDA’s public policy team as Associate Director, Public Policy and Food Safety Programs. Janell will represent NASDA on Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) implementation and appropriations issues.
“I am very excited for the opportunity to apply my state-specific policy experience to the national agriculture policy arena,” said Hendren. “Food safety is vitally important to the state departments of agriculture and I look forward to advancing NASDA’s work on this issue.”
Prior to joining NASDA, Hendren served as the National Affairs Coordinator for the Florida Farm Bureau Federation where she focused on grassroots organization tactics and developed policy on labor, trade, water quality, and a variety of other farm programs. Hendren also worked at the Prosper Group, John Quinones for Congress, and Adam Hasner for U.S. Senate. Hendren has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University.
NASDA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit association which represents the elected and appointed commissioners, secretaries, and directors of the departments of agriculture in all fifty states and four U.S. territories. To learn more about NASDA, please visit www.nasda.org.
