Massachusetts has certified qualified farms under its new Commonwealth Quality seal program (CQP). There are currently 20 farms certified in the program and 50 more involved in the application process. CQP is designed to help consumers identify high-quality products that are produced, harvested, and processed in Massachusetts. Certification requirements include adherence to sustainability standards adapted from the USDA's Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) Program.
"This program provides a unique opportunity for our agricultural community to exhibit its commitment to excellence, while offering consumers assurance that they are purchasing high-quality products from local growers," said Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (DAR) Commissioner Scott J.
