Week-long Mission Drives International Attendance to NASDA Trade Shows
NASDA's Trade Show Team, Dewitt Ashby and Megan McDonald visited China (Beijing, Changchun, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Jinjiang and Shanghai) and South Korea (Seoul) last week to promote attendance at the upcoming 2018 American Food Fair at the NRA Show. NASDA produces the American Food Fair Pavilion at the NRA Show each year and works actively with the National Restaurant Association and USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) to attract a strong international audience to the event.
During the trip, Megan and DeWitt worked closely with FAS ATOs (Agricultural Trade Offices) in China (Beijing, Shenyang, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Shanghai) and worked with Chinese restaurant and culinary associations to make group five group presentations about the NRA Show to more than 300 potential show visitors. ATO Seoul arranged a luncheon for NASDA that included key restaurant and hotel developers.
Megan and DeWitt also attended the FAS Cooperator meeting at the Food and Hotel China show in Shanghai.
China and South Korea are key importers of U.S. food and agricultural products ranking second and fifth respectively. NRA Show attendees from these markets represent significant current and potential business opportunities for U.S. exporters. In 2017 the NRA Show attracted 331 Chinese visitors and 20 Korean visitors.
