NASS/NASDA Win 1st Place at Annual Texas Rice Festival

News Article -

Staff from the NASS, Southern Plains Regional Field Office and Texas NASDA Enumerators won 1st place for their Rice Education Exhibit at the annual Texas Rice Festival held the first weekend of October in Winnie, Texas.  The event, currently in its 48th year, is held as a celebration of the rice harvest and features family entertainment with down-home country flair.  It was created in 1969 to honor rice farming, which is a major economic contributor to this region of Southeast Texas.  The city of Winnie was hit hard by Hurricane Harvey just a month prior, but turnout for the festival this year was still strong.
