Arthur J Keyes IV was appointed Director of the State Division of Agriculture on February 17, 2016.
Arthur has spent more than a decade as a farmer and small business owner in the Mat-Su and he is a tireless champion for Alaska agriculture. He grew up in Anchorage where he worked as a produce section supervisor for Carrs/Safeway. In 2003, Arthur and his wife Michelle founded the Glacier Valley Farm in the Mat-Su, and three years later, he launched the South Anchorage Farmers Market, which has been voted the best farmers market in Alaska.
Arthur has volunteered his time to many agricultural organizations. He has served on the Palmer Soil and Water Conservation District board, and is a former president of the Mat-Su Chapter of the Alaska Farm Bureau. He has also served on the board of the Alaska Farm Bureau and the Alaska Farmland Trust and for the USDA Farm Service Agency Alaska State Committee, a federal appointment.
Arthur and Michelle live in Palmer and they have three young children.
