DeWitt Ashby joined the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) in January 1983 to work on NASDA’s first trade show later that year in Atlanta. While at NASDA he has worked on all thirty-four trade show events co-sponsored by the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) and NASDA, including the five original NASDA shows, 16 US Food Export Showcases (15 with the Food Marketing Institute and one with NASFT and OTA), 12 American Food Fairs (with the National Restaurant Association), and 6 US pavilions (with the World Trade Center Miami).
Ashby has also worked extensively with FAS on other projects including: bidding, contracting and helping direct an evaluation of the Market Access Program (performed by Deloitte & Touche); selecting a vendor to modernize FAS’s US Supplier and Foreign Buyer data sets; applying MAP funds toward the improvement of FAS sponsored US pavilions at trade shows outside the US; and focusing on the business potential of China’s emerging urban markets through the FAS’s Emerging Markets Program and MAP programs.
Ashby holds a B.A. from Hiram College and an M.A. in British History from the University of Virginia. He resides in Vienna, Virginia with his wife Maiko and daughter Claire.
