On Sept. 18, 2020 USDA announced up to an additional $14 billion dollars will be included in the second Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP 2). This round, CFAP 2 will include coverage for additional commodities, including all aquaculture and mollusks. NASDA members brought special attention to the gap in coverage for aquaculture producers the original CFAP left. NASDA thanks USDA for taking time to hear NASDA’s concerns and its actions to look out for aquaculture producers.
Other commodities eligible include those with a price trigger and five percent or greater loss, crops without data at a flat rate of $15 per acre, and many specialty crops. CFAP 2 is funded through the Commodity Credit Corporation Charter Act and CARES Act. Sign up is open for producers now through Dec. 11, 2020. Producers can apply for CFAP 2 at USDA’s Farm Service Agency county offices. Learn more about the program from USDA’s CFAP website.
