The pandemic has disrupted markets for farmers and makers across the nation. NASDA Foundation partnered with the Good Food Foundation and the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets to showcase a virtual buyers event to NASDA members and their teams that connects local producers with buyers from across the country.

“Local and regional markets have been disrupted during the pandemic, “said NASDA Foundation Executive Director Dr. Lisa Benson. “Events like this are critical to helping local producers stay afloat and find new markets for their products.”

Vermont Secretary of Agriculture Anson Tebbetts shared how his department has used an innovative virtual buyer event, the Good Food Mercantile, to connect Vermont producers to buyers from across the country during the age of social distancing.

More than 60 staff from state departments of agriculture participated in the live pitch and tasting of award-winning cheese and preserves with Vermont food producers Spring Brook Farm Cheese and Blake Hill Preserves.
