Sign-up for the first group of state gardens ends Dec. 20

Thanks to the states that have been in conversation with our partner, Farm Journal Foundation, about the launch of new state garden projects. As a reminder, the Voice of the Farmer Garden is an interactive educational garden at the USDA headquarters on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., and we are inviting states to tap into this national experience with their own state-level gardens.

Farm Journal Foundation is signing up states on a rolling basis every quarter, starting in January 2022. Spots are limited for the first quarter, so if you’d like to get started now, please contact Todd Greenwood by Dec. 20.

In addition, we have a few garden updates to share:

  • Public Launch: We are tentatively planning to announce our new state garden initiative on National Ag Day, March 22, in coordination with other events in Washington, D.C. and with USDA. We hope to work with your state communications staff as we plan this event. Stay tuned for future updates!
  • Updated Website: Work is underway on updating the Voice of the Farmer Garden website, to be relaunched on March 22 at our public event. States in our first group will be included on the website and will have the opportunity to feature farmer videos from their state.
  • Education Outreach: Farm Journal Foundation is developing educational resources that are aligned to Next Generation Science Standards to supplement what each state provides.
  • Additional Garden Content: We are exploring additional garden content to meet state needs and align with USDA objectives. Future content would cover careers/workforce development, technology, and diversity, equity and inclusion in agriculture. We look forward to providing you with further updates about this in the future!

We are excited to see this innovative initiative get underway! If you’d like additional information or want to sign up, please contact Todd Greenwood.
