The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry is recruiting to fill a limited period position through at least April 2024. The position for Director of PFAS Response and is located in Augusta, Maine. A permanent position has also been requested in the Supplemental Budget. Applications are due by June 24, 2022.

This is a senior management position responsible for developing, managing, and directing the comprehensive policies, programs, communications, and technical plans that support the Department’s response to perfluoroaklyl and polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) agricultural contamination in the state. This position will develop assistance programs, guidance, and technical resources for agricultural producers and work with other state agency partners and external federal, state, municipal, academic, and other stakeholders to collaborate on outreach, guidance, and other support activities. Responsibilities include evaluating, collaborating, and integrating operational practices and procedures in the Department’s PFAS response and ensuring funding is appropriately managed. The position will supervise staff and ensure effective internal communications and coordination. The position will provide leadership in statewide PFAS policy and programs involving other personnel, committees, the legislature, advocates, and/or members of the public.
