The Senate Reauthorizes Animal Drug User Fee Program, the final Farm Bill Conference Committee is announced and the USTR announced possible increase in tariffs on Chinese products. See the details below:
- On July 31, 2018 the Senate passed the Animal Drug User Fee and Animal Generic Drug User Fee Amendments. This bill reauthorizes the FDA’s animal drug and generic drug user fee programs. In both chambers, the bill was passed without a roll call vote. The bill now heads to the president’s desk for his signature.
- The Senate has named their nine Farm Bill conferees. They include: Senate Agriculture Chairman Pat Roberts (R-KS), Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Sen. John Boozman (R-AR), Sen. John Hoeven (R-ND), Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA), Ranking Member Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND).
- In a press release last Wednesday, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer announced the President has directed USTR to consider increasing the proposed additional duty on Chinese products from 10 percent to 25 percent.
