Last week in Washington, The EU’s ambassador to the U.S., David O’Sullivan, announced the US and the EU are close to finalizing an agreement on US exports of non-hormone treated beef. Following a late 1990’s WTO, case in which it was found the EU discriminates against US beef raised with artificial growth hormones, the US and EU reached an agreement in which the EU established a duty-free quota for 45,000 metric tons of grain-fed, high quality, hormone-free beef.
