USDA Appoints NASDA Member to Advisory Committee on Agriculture Statistics

Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue has appointed 22 members to serve on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Advisory Committee on Agriculture Statistics, including New Mexico Secretary of Agriculture Jeff Witte, NASDA 2018-2019 President. The committee advises the Secretary on surveys of agriculture and other related surveys; the periodic Census of Agriculture; and the types of agricultural information to obtain from respondents. The Committee also prepares recommendations regarding the content of agricultural reports and presents the views and needs for data of suppliers and users of agriculture statistics.

In 1972, NASDA and the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service entered into a cooperative agreement for NASDA to employ enumerators and cover costs associated with data collection for specific surveys.
