The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Zachary Gihorski as Associate Director, Public Policy. Gihorski will lead NASDA’s engagement on issues under the jurisdiction of NASDA’s Food Systems and Nutrition and Plant Agriculture and Pesticide Committee. Gihorski’s first day with NASDA is today, May 22.

“This is an exciting time to join NASDA as state departments of agriculture lead the boots on the ground recovery from COVID-19,” said Gihorski. “I look forward to leveraging my legal expertise and hands on experience working in state departments of agriculture food systems to advocate policy that establishes a more resilient U.S. food and agriculture system.”

Gihorski recently achieved his Juris Doctor at Penn State Dickinson Law. He most recently worked at Olsson Frank Weeda Terman Matz PC as a Government Relations, Policy, and Legal Intern. Gihorski has also worked for the Nexxus Group, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Gihorski grew up on his family’s small livestock farm in Port Norris, New Jersey and still actively supports 4-H and the FFA.
