Director Kettler was appointed by Governor Eric Holcomb on January 8, 2018. Bruce was appointed to Governor Holcomb’s cabinet in December of 2019. He also serves as the Director of Agribusiness Development for the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.

Secretary Ward was appointed by Governor Asa Hutchinson in March 2015. He is serving as the third Secretary of Agriculture for Arkansas as is dedicated to the development and implementation of policies and programs for Arkansas agriculture.

MAINE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, CONSERVATION AND FORESTRY COMMISSIONER AMANDA BEAL

Commissioner Beal has served as the Commissioner of the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry since February 2019. She has focused on keeping farmland in production across generations; collaborating and consulting with farmers, food-related businesses and organizations to create food systems that sustain Maine farms; and advocating for Maine’s farming potential.

Commissioner Ball has served as Commissioner of Agriculture for the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets since 2014. For the last 25 years, he has been the proud owner and operator of Schoharie Valley Farms in Schoharie, New York.

Derek Sandison

WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE DIRECTOR DEREK SANDISON

Director Sandison was appointed director of the Washington State Department of Agriculture in 2015. Sandison was previously director of the state Department of Ecology’s Office of Columbia River, where he oversaw numerous water supply development projects important to farmers and ranchers.

Shawn Jasper

NEW HAMPSHIRE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, MARKETS AND FOOD

Commissioner Jasper was appointed New Hampshire’s Commissioner of Agriculture in 2017 by Governor Chris Sununu. Jasper hopes to travel the state early in his tenure as Commissioner to meet with members of the New Hampshire agricultural industry and listen to their ideas and concerns.

ALABAMA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND INDUSTRIES COMMISSIONER RICK PATE

Commissioner Pate was elected to serve as Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries’ Commissioner in 2018. Pate is mindful that by 2050, farmers will have to double food production to meet the needs of the world and that it will take visionary leaders who understand that we have to work smarter, not just harder, to achieve these goals. He plans to do his part by working with department staff, agriculture stakeholders and the people of Alabama to make a difference.

Thom Petersen

MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER THOM PETERSON

Commissioner Peterson was appointed Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s Commissioner in January of 2019 by Governor Walz. He has a wide range of experience in state and federal farm policy, and travels to almost every county in Minnesota each year to fully understand how these policies affect farmers’ daily lives.

Kate Greenberg

COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER KATE GREENBERG

Commissioner Greenberg was appointed to serve as Colorado’s Commissioner of Agriculture by Governor Polis in 2018. As Commissioner, Greenberg provides leadership and direction to the Colorado Department of Agriculture and its 300 employees. Commissioner Greenberg has worked in agriculture for more than 12 twelve years, from boots-on-the-ground experience to advocating for family farmers through two federal Farm Bills.
