“I want young women in agriculture to know that nothing I have achieved was done alone. My work is built on the wisdom of mentors, the strength of my community, and the courage to keep learning. They deserve the same support, and I hope they reach out for them without hesitation.”
Q: What valuable lessons have you learned as a woman in agriculture?
My ten years as a woman in the agricultural industry have taught me that technology is transforming agriculture faster than ever, and that drawing on the wisdom of mentors and the resources available through the Nevada Department of Agriculture, USDA, and NASDA is key to growing with it.
Q: Describe a specific challenge you faced and how you overcame it.
Securing farm financing remains a complex and ongoing challenge, but working through it with the support of USDA and my Farm Service Agency Loan Officer has strengthened my resilience and deepened my commitment to advancing my farm and contributing to the future of agriculture.
Q: What do you wish the next generation of women in agriculture would know about your work?
I want young women in agriculture to know that nothing I have achieved was done alone. My work is built on the wisdom of mentors, the strength of my community, and the courage to keep learning. They deserve the same support, and I hope they reach out for them without hesitation.
Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in agriculture?
I have loved agriculture since childhood, helping my mom in her garden and growing up near fields of alfalfa and potatoes. That passion grew when I discovered hydroponics and saw vibrant tomatoes thriving indoors in winter, inspiring me to pursue a career combining farming and innovation.
