The National Agricultural Statistics Service International Programs Office recently hosted a delegation from the Philippines for a knowledge exchange on agricultural survey and census methodologies. This visit, part of the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service Cochran Fellowship Program, included 10 delegates from the Philippines Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment Staff, National Dairy Authority, Bureau of Animal Industry and the Philippine Carabao Center. The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture also participated in this exchange.

NASDA Chief Operating Officer Martha Van Dale and NASDA NASS Program Director Charlie Ingram presented an overview of the NASDA-NASS cooperative agreement and enumerator program. The delegates were particularly interested in enumerator recruitment, training, demographics and performance management, recognizing their importance in accurate and efficient data collection. The delegates also did site tours of the NASS Southern Regional Office, local farms and the University of Georgia Extension Service.

The visit provided valuable insights into advanced agricultural data collection methodologies and highlighted NASDA and NASS’s commitment to international cooperation and global agricultural development.
