The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture is happy to announce the recent hiring of Susan Simpkins as associate director, international grant programs. Simpkins brings a wealth of experiences and a diverse career background that positions her to bolster NASDA’s grant programs.

“I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to join NASDA and learn about the agriculture industry from such an experienced and knowledgeable team of staff and members,” Simpkins said. “I look forward to my role in supporting NASDA’s programs and events to assist in the expansion of international markets for U.S. agricultural products.”

In her role, Simpkins supports financial and administrative functions for NASDA’s cooperative agreements with USDA Foreign Agricultural Service, including NASDA’s A Taste of the States pavilions and Emerging Markets Program international trade events.

Simpkins previously served as a stage manager for prominent theaters in the D.C. area, an operations director at the association management firm MCI USA, and most recently, event planner for Capital One.

Simpkins graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business and theatre with honors from Wake Forest University in North Carolina.
