NASDA members are committed to improving rural mental health. One way to achieve that goal is by creating and supporting region-wide networks across the country that inform community members about available mental health resources in their area and train those who interact with farmers on how to identify signs of stress in others.

Out of the Shadows

“Out of the Shadows” is a powerful 20-minute documentary that aims to bring awareness to the mental health crisis in rural America. The documentary sheds light on the struggles faced by farmers, ranchers, and other rural community members, highlighting the urgent need for mental health resources and support. NASDA’s member from New Mexico, Secretary Jeff Witte, is one of the people interviewed for this project, helping to bring these issues out of the shadows.
