The Northeast Regional Food Business Center launched the first round of funding for technical assistance providers on July 22, and applications will close on August 23, 2024. The webinar offers an overview of the Regional Food Business Center program, before leading potential applicants through eligibility requirements, allowable activities, external resources and an application checklist. The Northeast Regional Food Business Center welcomed university researchers, governmental agency representatives and community-based leaders to discuss critical needs and economic development opportunities within our local and regional food systems. The Center team also provided updates on this year’s funding opportunities, along with exploring how the five-year USDA grant program can leverage and support existing research, grant programs and community-led initiatives.

NASDA Foundation presented virtually at the 2024 Rhode Island Food System Summit to discuss the Northeast USDA Regional Food Business Center and the two funding streams that will begin to be available in mid-year 2024. NASDA Foundation hosted an informational session on Oct. 3 to provide project updates on the Northeast USDA Regional Food Business Center. The Center will continue to host webinars, workshops and informational sessions for potential applicants and stakeholder organizations in advance of applications opening in mid-2024.
